What is the perfect Christmas candle? What smells like Christmas? Is it orange and cinnamon? Fir and pine? Or something a bit different.
I love Christmas, but I love the smell of Christmas even more than some traditions. But what smells like Christmas? Is it one particular smell? Or does it depend? I like having a bit of choice, so I have these 5 luxury Christmas candles side by side in my coffee table and light them depending on my mood.
Here is my luxury Christmas candle edit.
The White Company Winter Candle
Costs from £10 from The White Company
The best value candle is our absolute favourite (and I am not a massive White Company scent fan, in all honesty). But this Winter range is absolutely divine – and comes in a variety of formats.
This year, all our pillar candles around the house have been upgraded from scent free to Winter Christmas Candle – and the best value size is the standard one (and not the large one).
Diptyque Sapin Candle
Costs £38 from Space NK, Nordstrom
From the 3 limited edition scents of Christmas 2023, the green one was my favourite – literally smells like a Christmas tree with a certain je ne sais quoi.
Hotel Lobby Candle Holiday
Costs £45 from Hotel Lobby Candle
I love this project from Lindsay Silberman, who is US based and she and her husband Matt are working really hard to make this project a success. I have literally bought every candle from their collection as they produce them and ask Matt to ship to the UK when I don’t have ‘a handler’ coming from the USA or go there myself.
The Holiday candle is part of the ‘holiday’ collection – and self explanatory. The Holidayt is my favourite, but the cabin brings some lovely memories. And the Holiday scent is spot on.
From their City collection, my favourites are the Island and the Miami ones.
Jo Loves Christmas Trees Candle
Costs £55 from Space NK
Jo Malone’s new venture (as in the founder of Jo Malone, who sold Jo Malone to Estee Lauder and started over) is brilliant and absolutely not the same as ’round one’. I love the amber notes added to the pine – really something unique.
And a bonus, great value kitchen Christmas candle (to get you in the mood), from French brand Durance. Costs £23 and it is also really good.
I hope these luxury Christmas candles get you in the mood for Christmas. Have a look at my luxury home fragrance edit for the perfect home scent year round.
