Who is Mrs. O ?

ana silva oreilly mrs o around the world top luxury travel blog

Real life without a filter.

Hello, I’m Ana, and I launched Mrs. O Around the World in November 2011 after years of friends and family asking me the same question:

“Where should we stay?”

Instead of sending the same hotel recommendations, restaurant suggestions and travel tips over and over again, I decided to put everything in one place.

Fifteen years later, that small idea has grown into one of the UK’s longest-running independent luxury travel and lifestyle publications.

Today, Mrs. O Around the World receives over 30,000 monthly page views and is read primarily by audiences in the United Kingdom and the United States, alongside readers from around the world looking for honest travel advice, luxury hotel recommendations and practical inspiration.

Outside the blog, I run several businesses, hold an MBA and have spent more than 20 years working in marketing. I’m also a wife and mother to a wonderful 6-year-old, and while our travels have naturally evolved over the years, my philosophy hasn’t.

My philosophy

First and foremost, I’m a consumer.

Long before I worked with brands, I was booking the flights, choosing the hotels and spending my own money on the experiences I now write about.

If I’m recommending a hotel, a destination, a travel essential or a beauty product, I have to be comfortable making exactly the same decision myself.

I don’t believe in recommending something simply because it’s new.

I believe in recommending the places I return to and the things I buy again.

Because that’s what I’d tell my closest friends and family to do.

Working with brands

I genuinely enjoy working with brands, hotels and destinations, and many of my longest-standing partnerships have been with companies I was already a customer of.

Those relationships allow me to create more authentic stories because they’re built on genuine experience rather than simply following a campaign brief.

Whether a trip is self-funded, hosted or part of a paid partnership, my opinions remain entirely my own.

Trust isn’t bought. It’s earned.

What you’ll find here

Mrs. O Around the World is built around the places I’ve loved, the hotels I’d happily return to and the products that have earned a permanent place in our family’s travels.

From luxury hotels and destination guides to family travel, shopping, beauty, home and practical travel advice, every article is written from personal experience and with one simple question in mind:

Would I recommend this to my closest friends and family?

If the answer is yes, you’ll probably find it here.

Thank you

Whether you’ve been following since 2011 or have only just discovered Mrs. O Around the World, thank you for being here.

I hope the blog inspires you to discover somewhere new, return somewhere familiar and travel with a little more confidence.

Mrs. O
