American Airlines Reviews

American Airlines is one of the worlds biggest airline companies, partnered with American Eagle and one of the founding members of Oneworld. They fly to 50 countries around the world from a range of destinations, offering eight different fare classes that range from the premium Flagship First experience to Basic Economy.

I have flown business class with American Airlines and found the experience reasonable; the lounge at Heathrow could do with an upgrade and the food is not of the same standard as many other airlines. However, their cabins are excellent and the business class seats are incredibly comfortable, so these factors almost cancel each other out.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What does it mean when a British Airways flight is operated by American Airlines?

British Airways and American Airlines operate in partnership with one another with some routes from the UK and the USA. The airlines sell tickets on each other’s flights and allow passengers to switch carriers if necessary, but many people prefer travelling on BA flights over ones with American Airlines because of the improvement in quality.

Can you use British Airways miles on American Airlines?

Passengers can both earn and redeem AAdvantage miles on British Airways flights, and the same can be done for British Airways passengers travelling on American Airlines flights, as both are part of the Oneworld alliance. Points cannot be transferred between accounts; you will have to book with the provider where you have Airmiles available to spend.

Who’s eligible to reserve seats with American Airlines miles?

Any AAdvantage members that travel in the main cabin on any flight marketed and operated by American Airlines can use their membership miles to reserve a seat after booking. This can be done for yourself and for other travellers through the ‘My Trip’ page on the airline’s website.

How reliable is American Airlines?

American Airlines is a reasonably reliable company to fly with, with over 6,000 flights going out every day and a good range of destinations covered by the airline. It’s a large airline which means that the majority of flights run without any issues, and whilst it may not be rated as the best US airline overall, it is still a strong contender.
