5 things I pack for a long haul trip

5 things you need to pack for a long haul trip

When I prepare for long haul trip, there are items that ALWAYS ALWAYS come with me,  whether it is a nice long hop to Miami,  a trip to the Maldives or even a mid haul situation like Turkey or Tenerife.

Here are the 5 things you need to pack for a trip (in my opinion!)

Falke Flight Socks

Cost £45 from Amazon (for women) and £40 from Amazon for men.

Flight socks are a must – with the right compression and we are very happy with these Falke socks (which were originally made for Lufthansa as a collaboration between both German companies. We have had ours for a few years (I would expect them to last a very long time) and the great advantage is that they come in a range of colours, and not just black. I love my navy ones.

USB A to USB C adaptor

Costs £5.99 for 2 from Amazon

I have dozens of USB A cables (always the same) and I have a handful of USB C cables – but I never seem to have them at the right time. So I have purchased these adaptors which cost almost nothing and it means that we are never caught short.

Air pods you wont mind losing

Cost £19.99 and come in different colours from Amazon

These are brilliant. I kept losing real AirPods and since I got these, I never looked back. Excellent quality, price tag and we have different colours so there is ‘no confusion’. This is the best selling item on my Amazon storefront.

An Amazon Fire 10 HD tablet

Costs from £/$/€ 109 from Amazon UK or USA

I have always only had Apple tablets but the truth is, I very rarely use my iPad since switching to a Plus phone and currently my IphoneX. I have a MacBook 12′ which fits into my handbag perfectly, so the only thing I really have felt the need for a tablet was to watch films on planes and on trips. Could I justify the £1000 price tag? No – which means more money for shoes.

Expandable Longchamp Le Pliage

Costs from £210 from Longchamp

We have 3 Longchamps Le Pliage (the XL size) which we always take folded with us on every trip. You never know what you may buy, they are discrete and do the job really well. I also find them useful every time I forget to pack a beach bag (which happens a lot more than it should). I wash them in my washing machine when I get home and on average, each of my bags lasts almost 10 years. Cost per usage? £0.10.

With our little one, we need a bit more space, so we have purchased the expandable Le Pliage in navy (which also matches her ‘restaurant day bag‘, previously the nappy bag). The rational is that they are all the same so we can all use them.

What items do you think will be of most use? What are the things you always need to pack for a trip?
