Samsonite Giveaway – Kuoni at John Lewis
To celebrate the launch of an exciting new concept in travel retail – ‘Kuoni at John Lewis’, I am very excited to launch a very special flash giveaway this month!
Kuoni’s brand new travel concessions are opening this October 2012 in John Lewis stores in: Oxford Street (London), Reading, Southampton and Cardiff in the UK.
I have been invited by Kuoni to meet TV travel presenter Simon Reeve (‘Indian Ocean’, ‘Tropic of Cancer, ‘Equator’) over champagne and canapés. And Simon will also host a Question & Answer session about his most exciting travel discoveries. This is quite exciting!
What is the prize, I hear you ask? Well, it is a very swanky Samsonite Firelite 4-Wheel Spinner Suitcase Medium in Deep Blue, one of my favourite colours. Wouldn’t you love it?
This competition is now closed. Thank you for being such a great audience and engaging so much!

I would ask “What is more important – the journey or the destination?”
As a little boy, is this what you dreamed you would be doing? If not, what was it that you wanted to do or saw yourself doing?
That’s a fab question! Thank you, Melana
I’d ask Simon what or who in Somalia will he always remember?

Hi Ana
i’d like to ask Simon a piece of advice. as an experienced traveler, what would he say to someone – me – who loves to travel along with it’s family (wife and a 5 and 8 year old kids) but is also a bit tired of resorts and cities? Where can one go with it’s most fabulous travel companions without jeopardizing the kids but still, having the opportunity to discover some wonders.
thanks and congrats to u Mrs O
Hi Rui, great question! Thanks for stopping by and taking part!
Hi Mrs. O, great blog and great giveaway, congratulations
I’d like to know about the “wow” moment when Simon realized his live would be all about travel. Did it happen? Where was he? How did the realization affect his future travels?
Hi Maria João. Thank you

My question (exactly as you need to ask it!): “What do you think of me?”

As for Simon Reeve, I don’t know who he is (I don’t watch TV, I know, I’m a freak) but I am sure the question ‘What do you most regret wearing?’ is bound to have a fun answer!

Good luck Mrs O!
Now that is some question! Very topical
I know, very topical
Good luck!
Bet you he doesn’t get asked that every day!
Question for Mr. Reeve:
When he thinks about the destination Algarve, what the first three words that occur!?
I wonder if he has visited your corner of the world?
Let see is answer!
And my question would be: What about luggage? How do you handle the long and different trips – even though we all know men travel lighter?
Are you implying I need to learn from him?
Good question!
LOL… Well, all I know is that I sure do!
Why am I not surprised? But you are right, something tells me he doesn’t have 4 suitcases with him.. like I do on my epic USA road trips!
Hi Ana,
Great prize, and super cool you can do that interview. Will you post a video of it online?
What I would like to ask a travel program presenter is how he balances travel impact with the need for conservation. This goes both for environmental impact, but also one could imagine that places he shows in his TV show, could face an influx of tourists that exceeds their capacity.
Not sure if we can do a video! I miss having my camera crew
Thanks for the question, Arjan!
All you need is one girl or boy holding a mobile phone

what’s your next destination Simon?
Thanks, Mariana
The question is simple albeit personal…
What is the first thing you do when you get home?!
Love that, João! Thank you!
Ana, here is my question (well, actually it is a 2 part question):
Does Simon like wine? If so, does he have a few favorites to name?
And yes, I want this suitcase badly!!
Cheers,
Luiz Alberto, #winelover
I shall find out!!
How does Simon cope with jet lag & what is his must have travel item of clothing to look great at any destination. Don’t know if anyone has used my tip of brushing teeth with minty toothpaste to jolt start you out of tiredness.
A very good one!!
Here comes my question to Simon: What was his most stunning experience with HIS suitcase while traveling?
Ohhhhhhhh I am also intrigued!
Dear Ana, always on the go! Great.
I would like to understand how his attitude to travel has changed across the year and accordingly to each new experience ha had, has having and will have. I may imagine that his travelling experience bring to a personal and intimate travel.
Let us know.
CLara
Thank you, Clara
Yes!
My Q: “Have you found the boundary between adventure and genuine fear? If so how can you spot it/avoid it, or do you actively seek it out?”
A very interesting question!
Great news
Did they confirm?
I’m going!!
First off, I NEED that suitcase – it’s BEAUTIFUL!
My question for Simon: What’s the most dangerous situation he’s been in and how did he handle it?
Excellent, thanks Erin!
Hello, Please ask Simon which is the area of the world he is yet to fully discover and is most excited to do so
Hi Hamish, will do! Thanks!
Oh if I lived in UK I’d love to go,enjoy!
I will join you!
Either: I was born in Calcutta but have never been back. I want to visit some of the scenes of my childhood but realise Calcutta is hardly a tourist destination. What would be Simon’s advice for a practical itinerary for say a three week trip including perhaps two or three days in Calcutta.
Or: Has Simon ever made it to La Guarida in Havana http://www.laguarida.com and if so what did he make of it. Fabulous, yes?
Hi! I will make sure I will include this in the Qs list
I have been to La Guarida! A magical night and a very special place indeed!
Questions for Simon: Sometimes when you travel a lot home no longer feels like home. Do any of the places you’ve visited feel more like home now than your actual home? Q2: What is the most surprising thing you’ve discovered in your travels?

If there was one person dead or alive who he could spend time getting to know on a desert island, who would it be?
I shall ask
will you join me on that day?
Yes please – looking forward to catching up.
Will be great!
Hi Ana,
please ask him: in a connected world, where now all information on almost all destinations is available, how can one still find that secret place, unheard of? Thanks Rodrigo
There are still a few
Thanks for taking part, Rodrigo
How exciting to be interviewing Simon – and what a fab case!
My question is – on Simon’s travels what has been his favourite street food and has there been anything he’s been too squeamish to eat?

Hi Ana. My question for Simon is: You cover such enormous distances in your television programmes, and you must be filming for a considerable amount of time, so how flexible do you need to be about what goes into the episodes? To what extent is the content of the series determined before you leave? Do you have a fixed idea of the story you want to tell, or do you set out with a loose outline of what you want to look at, but decide on the narrative direction of the filming once you’re on location? Enjoy the interview!
I wi
thanks for the question!
My question: Out of all the places he has traveled to, is there one that stands out as his favorite? And why? Is it the culture, the food, the beauty, or something else?
Lets find out!!

Hiya, Ohhhh can’t wait to read your interview of Simon Reeve
– 2. when he is back in the arms of his familiar & it gets noisy, issues filled, etc- where is the one place, of all the places visited, he wishes he could escape to instantly- or does escape to in his head?
My question for Simon – He is a true traveler as he has tasted all flavours of the world, from the breathtaking to the scary & I have always wondered of true travelers- Are you more open minded to the world diversity , do you find that your views and understanding of cultures are more grey than black & white? If that is too “heady”
Looking forward to reading!!!!
Fab questions!! Thank you
My question would be: If you had one piece of advice to give, what would it be?
