Photos of the week – Windows and Views

Oh, it’s Friday again :) my favourite day of the week! Today’s #FriFotos theme is Windows, and I am interpreting it as “views from windows”, as I don’t seem to have many photos of actual windows!

A gin with a view

A gin with a view

I love skiing and love our little chalet where we go year after year in Val Thorens, with great views over the French Alps and the slopes. A gin & tonic seems to be the perfect après-ski drink. With the summer coming to an end, it is time to start thinking about skiing!

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal

Whenever I go back to Lisbon, I go to the Sheraton’s top floor bar – I have to. I love the views over this special place – day or night, I am not picky. Funnily enough, it is also where I signed my wedding papers (the official stuff), so has an extra special meaning!

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona, Spain

This was a view I will never forget. Waking up to this on a recent trip to Barcelona was quite something. So good, I have been back a few times since April.

A spa with a view - oh yes

A spa with a view – oh yes

I love this photograph. I will never forget when I walked into this spa treatment room on-board my first cruise. I seriously wasn’t expecting it – difficult to replicate it on-shore!

Marina, California

Marina, California

A magic place – quiet, calm, undeveloped… perfect. We stopped in Marina, not far from Monterey and Carmel, for a couple of nights and promised ourselves we would go back. The views were stunning and the beach was ours.

And this is a familiar view, i.e. from inside a plane. I love flying and you can’t beat the excitement of taking off and heading somewhere special. Tonight, I am heading to Dublin and really look forward to a great weekend.

Have a great one!

  1. I love your pic Gin with a view! Your California pic somehow reminds me of the film Beaches (in a good way) :)

It is the tallest building in Lisbon at 25 floors – they are stunning indeed. You can actually see (not on the pic) 4 of Lisbon’s 7 hills from there

  8. I love window views, especially from hotel rooms high up and planes. Nice selection!
